Florida was the first state to be settled by European explorers when Juan Ponce de Leon arrived in 1513. The state was traded to the British in exchange for Havana in 1763 and thanks to is naval history and agricultural economy and climate has flourished despite its continual battering from Hurricanes. Why not investigate the history of the state with a visit to the Lightner Museum, Key West Lighthouse or the Bonnet House Museum and Gardens to find out more.
