King John's Castle

King John's Castle was built in the 13th Century on "Kings Island" in county Limerick, Ireland.

The castle has recently reopened in 2013 following a multi million Euro investment. This visitor experience combines the castle and the area's incredible 800 year history with 21st Century digital technologies, providing visitors with an interactive and engaging day out. There are magnificent views from the castle where you can pause and imagine a Norman soldier’s life in this Medieval fortress. Join in the living interpretation and re-enactment with costumed guides who reveal the secrets and scandals of castle life. Replica objects can be found in the Discovery Drawer which you can touch and feel to connect to the tales of siege and warfare.
