Prague Attractions

Prague is the capital city of the Czech Republic and, despite the destruction wreaked on it during the 20th century, houses several famous cultural attractions.  The city is served by a metro system, trams, buses, trains and ferries as well as having a good network of roads making it easy to get around in the city.

Historically the capital of Bohemia, Prague was an important trading area for European Merchants.  The beautiful Prague Castle, home of the dukes and kings of Prague, was built at the end of the 9th century and is now the residence of the President of the Czech Republic.  The beautiful painted facade of the Prague Municipal House hides and equally impressive collection of murals, paintings and stained glass windows. There are many historic buildings in Prague, the largest collection being The Clementinum but also impressive are the Charles Bridge, St Vitus Cathedral and The Church of Our Lady before Tyn.

An overview of the attractions Prague has to offer can be gained by using the Hop-On Hop-Off buses. Alternatively why not admire the beautiful city from the Vitava river by taking a boat cruise, you could even dine on the river too!

Prague houses a mini replica of the famous Eiffel Tower, The Petrin Lookout Tower, which stands at 63 metres high.  Built in 1891 from used railway track it gives a panoramic view of the city.

There are many museums to visit in Prague.  Why not visit the Museum of Communism or the KGB Museum for an insight into life during that era or the art nouveau display of the Mucha Museum.  The Apple Museum (the technology not the fruit!) showcases the devices created by the company in the modern technological era or, in contrast, why not visit the National Museum in the famous Wenceslas Square.

There are also several theme and waterparks in Prague, possibly the strangest being Thrill Park, a horror theme park!  Alternatively you could visit Aquapalace Praha or Aquacentrum Sutka for waterbased fun or Action Park and Dino Park for outdoor fun.

For alternative attractions why not take a Beer Tour & Tasting or try your hand at flying an Airbus A320 in the iPILOT Simulator Centre.

If nightlife is more your scene why not visit the Black Light Theatre or take a guided pub crawl through the city.

There are many day trips available from Prague.  Try a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Cesky Krumlov or the brave a visit to the Terezin concentration camp
